I’m excited to announce Builder 1.2 which brings important enhancements to help you secure your products and devices.

The new Product Security Center is a comprehensive security section to give you vital information you need to secure your EmbedThis enabled devices in one place.

The security center provides news, helpful tips, and a complete list of important product issues. When relevant security alerts are issued, you can receive automatic notification regarding the security issue via Email or SMS.

Product Security Alerts

Staying current with the latest security patches and being aware of emerging security threats is critical. To meet this challenge, the Embedthis Security Center provides proactive product security alerts directly to your inbox or mobile device. You can configure email addresses and phone numbers to be automatically notified in the event of an important security notice or release that impacts your products and devices.

CustomMetrics

This release replaces the use of CloudWatch Metrics with [CustomMetrics](https://npmjs.com/package/custom-metrics] for data sent by the Ioto device agent and displayed by the Builder dashboard widgets.

CustomMetrics presents a cost-effective alternative metrics API that is considerably more budget-friendly and efficient compared to standard CloudWatch metrics. We still support CloudWatch metrics of course, but internally, the Builder and Ioto have eliminated the use of CloudWatch Metrics to offer a more cost effective solution.

Royalty-free Subscription Offerings

We’ve added royalty-free subscription plans for the Ioto device agent. You can now use either the volume-based or royalty-free subscription plans.

The volume-based subscriptions employ a per-manufactured device fee that is calculated on a sliding scale where the price decreases with increasing device volumes. The volume-based subscriptions are billed monthly or yearly in advance and offer a lower-cost of entry for smaller device volumes.

Royalty-free subscriptions offer an annual renewable license to embed the device agent in new devices without a device volume limit.
